Is it really common opinion that the spawns in this map are even enough to qualify it as a ladder map?

Illuria has always been a wonderful map, both in terms of nostalgia for Warlord 1 players, and for color.

But the Sirians in the southeast have always had a terrible start position. That position is just harder than all the others.

It could perhaps be balanced by giving them an unnaturally large amount of Level 1 ruins.

Sometimes, The Sirians manage to surprise the Elves and kill them, but most of the times, the Sirians just have a very hard time of it.

Another possiblity is to give the Sirians a second city in their starting valley -- but that then really breaks with the original map.

Perhaps ports could be added near the southern end of the river, so that they can ford across to the two Giant cities in the southeast? That wouldn't break the tradition of the Illuria map, but would add to the power of the Sirians.

Suggest that the two Elvish cities, Argenthorne and Glindenhome, should produce Elves. Possibly not Pegasi -- that's up to balance issues.
