Why is Warbaron\'s Illuria so deformed?
I'm asking because I may do the exact copy of Illuria from Warlords I. but I don't want to waste my time if it is impossible.
Thank for reply :)

Jendan,

It's been done this way by the author for playability reasons. Remember in Warlords I, the armies in the cities are fixed, you can't buy new production. That's not true in Warbarons so you can easily buy units like crows and pillage a near by opponents capitol, something that was not possible in Warlords I.

Also this map was done when the only map size was 150x100. Now you can use a 150x150 map and more closely replicate Warlord I (though I think the original was taller than 150).

Note, there is another Illuria map by another player that more closely resembles the original.

Thanks for post KGB.
I misexpressed myself. Actually my question is: Is it possible to build in Warbarons original Illuria map from Warlords I. sized 1:1?

Jendan,

I don't know. I recall the original map being taller than 150 squares. I believe it was 160x128 because that's the max map size from DLR and I think that number was preserved from Warlords I through Warlords 2 and on to DLR.

So I'd say the answer is probably 'no'. In any case until such time as Warbarons provides the ability to prevent players from buying new production I don't think you'd want to replicate it 1:1 because it wasn't a balanced map to begin with.

One more question. Do you know, where to find this map? I have been looking for it, but haven't found :(
I found only this Illuria. Thanks :)

Jendan,

Apparently it's not in the list any more. The author (Ezras I think) didn't migrate it into Beta5 or else has taken it off the list of maps available for play.

You can see it here:
