33 players are in at the moment.
Let me offer to discuss a variant of tourney structure for 36 players.
Round 1st: 6 groups of 6 players (2 first players go to next round).
Round 2nd: 4 groups of 3 players (1st player goes to next round).
Final round: 1 group of 4 players, where will be defined winner (Cup owner), silver and bronze prizers.

In two rounds 1 of 3 players goes farther.
In final round 1 of 4 will get Warbarons Cup 2013.

Time turn limit 2 days with ability to use "Premium feature" option when necessary to be out of games longer (not too often though).
Two rounds should be finished before New Year. Final round - in January.

Please post here what do you think about this.

I think 3 rounds is too many. It should be 2 rounds tops.

With 36 players you'd have 6 rounds of 6 with only the winner moving on. 2nd round is the 6 winners.

P.S. I personally need 3 day turn times to accommodate weekends/holidays (US Thanksgiving is 4 days long for example) etc. If the tourney will only have 2 days max then I'll drop out rather than miss turns in games and ruin the experience for myself and my opponents.

That is why I offered to use Premium feature. Good for case you said (US Thanksgiving)

We are already 37.
Necessary to correct tourney structure for 40 players.
Round 1st: 8 groups of 5 players (2 first players go to next round).
Round 2nd: 4 groups of 4 players (1st player goes to next round).
Final round: 1 group of 4 players, where will be defined winner (Cup owner), silver and bronze prizers.

Dear all,

Fine with me to say cut off date is in a week (october 23) and first games of the tournament for November 1. Regarding turn time limit, I still vote for 3 turns as more than one person has asked for this (a reasonable assumption is that they might very well represent a larger silent portion of people).

Regarding getting it done before the end of the year: it would be preferable, but I think it is perhaps unrealistic almost no matter what we do given the turnout. So I suggest that the tournament simply takes as long as it takes (3 day turn limit to keep people from dropping out due to too slow speed).

Regarding final setup: all suggestions here are very welcome. Other than that we have a discussion group going consisting of KGB,tabanli,Igor and myself, but if anyone else is interested in being part of organizing just let me know.

I guess most pressing for now: Can everybody live with a 3 day turn limit? If not a quick vote might be the best way of settling it.

Best

Your first post sounds more optimistic :)
Some people wish 3 days. Some people wish 1 day. Could be good to choose compromise decision. Just don't force one of these two groups of players get big damage in delay that they usually play.
If players usually make 2-3 turns a day for one game, it will be greate discomfort for them to wait 3 days.
Compromise looks necessary here. That is why I offered 2 days delay.

Tabanli offered second variant for final round - to make 2 semifinals and final (plus match for 3-nd place).
I also think that this variant looks interesting. But could be better to hear more opinions. And may be to discuss this with 4 players who will be in final round.
That is why I offer to take group final round now, but to keep in mind that could be usefull to return to this discussion when final group will be defined.
