It appears freeze times are no longer same for both players. My opponent and I had different freeze times. He unfroze first and took advantage of me. I couldn't find the info on this in the wiki (which seems very old now).
Yes I keep loosing my heroes during my freeze time. When I am frozen my opponent is still active. I am not sure if this is a Bug or intended. In either case, this should be explained little better.
