Trample would really require a rebalancing. It's quite a significant change to make.
But aside from Trample, which I think is too big a change to even go into here, the siege question...

Didn't we have this discussion before? I took the position that for the sake of realism, a catapult would have no strength of its own (or maybe 5 representing its crew), and some sort of individual bonus in cities. Thus its main purpose would be its siege ability, and it would not be a useful combat unit outside of defending/assaulting cities. Battering Ram should be fast (it's broken down for transport and pulled by horses in a wagon?), have 5 strength, and no bonuses other than its siege capability. That is, if we wanted to try and change siege units to make sense, or be "realistic".

Lphillips,
I suppose that would be more realistic (at least for the ram), but it would make those units far less useful.

that's how the things worked in W2. catapult was useful only for besieging cities. but we can agree that the siege is accompanied with some staff that handles it and some supporting units, which consists of - lets say - two squads of infantry. so - the whole unit has strength of four and 3 hit points. I think it is logical. thats why we should cancel attacking bonus, and make it a little less mobile. and, as I said, add maybe +5 while defending city (individual skill).

Strach, then it truly would be useless. At least the +city bonus should be both ways. That's sensible anyway.

I don't think they should be slow. No one in their right mind drags around fully completed catapults. They'd be broken down, traveling fast pulled by horses. That's the whole reason for their lack of strength in non-city battles. Maybe give the siege units +10 and +15 respectively then, not +5 and +10?
