About Non Aggression Pact (NAP)

Postby ptGamer » Fri Mar 16, 2012 7:03 pm

Hi all,

Maybe I am missing the obvious but I didn't find much documentation on NAP. I have questions on NAP logic:

1) When you make an NAP offer and demand/offer a city, what happens to the units in the city when the NAP is accepted? Also, does city ownership transfer automatically upon acceptance, or is it just excluded from the system's "cannot attack" enforcement?

2) When you make an NAP offer and demand/offer gold, does the system charge a fee like when you send resources?

3) Are there any restrictions on how many NAPs may be in place? For example, in a free-for-all game, will I be able to make NAP with all other players?

4) In my News & History feed I can see who my NAPs with others and expiration count, which is very nice. I don't recall seeing NAPs between other players. Does that mean only news of my NAPs are available to me, and NAPs of mine are not broadcast to other players except the parties in an NAP?

Thanks in advance.

1. The city is transfered automatically. Any units in the city will be moved outside the city automatically.

2. No fee

3. Nope, you are free to make as many NAPs as you can

4. exactly :-)

One thing that we should do is to cancel the nap if there are just 2 players left. I have played some games where we have to wait 8 turns before anyone can attack when its just 2 players left.

Thank you for the answer SnotlinG!

piranha: maybe that can translate into a new feature: offer to cancel NAP?

Once a NAP is in place, who gets to act first when it ends? Is it the person who accepcted it, the person who offered it, or just whoever goes first in the turn order?

I believe it is whoever goes first on the turn :|

I'm not sure I like the ability to cancel an NAP, b/c some might misuse it.

I would think it'd be interesting if we showed diplomacy to everyone like how Warlords was...

I definitely don't think you should be able to cancel an NAP unless you reach what Piranha described (only 2 players left and in a NAP with each other).

I also don't think you should know about other players NAP's.

i guess if it is a "Propose to Cancel NAP" in which both sides must agree upon, it can be put in place at any time.

One problem I've recently encountered is apparent ambiguity about when a NAP ends. I and others I know have interpreted the warning "Your NAP will end in one turn" to mean that it will end at the end of my next turn... when instead it appears to mean that it ends when the last player in turn order finishes their turn and the game enters a new round (e.g. from game turn 7 to turn 8). Would it be possible to make the message more specific? For instance, "Your NAP will end in 0 rounds when the last player in turn order finishes their turn." - where the number of rounds is 1 less than that stated in the current warning text?
