Scenario map example

If you think the AI is easy, you can try the small scenariomap Final Battle I just created.
Its a 2 player vs the AI map, using some triggers, and customized startingcities/units etc to show what is possible to do with the current mapeditor :-)

Lets see who can survive the longest! ;-)

OK, so how does one play this map and play the AI? I just tried to create a game and your new map isn't in the selection list for some reason.


Incidentally I noticed a bug while doing this. Since I could not find your map I did not select one and I just came back to the main menu. When I tried again it said my game name was already in use. So I guess I am gradually using up names without creating games.

You must select scenario game in the drop down to see scenario games.

The game you created exist but its not listed so the name is taken but if the game isn't started within one week our cronjob will delete the game.

Thanks. Got it working.

SnotlingG,

The AI continues to leave it's top cities empty. So simply rushing up there allows you to pick them all up. The scenario isn't that hard once you realize that. I suspect 2 dedicated players could easily win this and I may still do so in the game I am playing though my Ally is down to 1 city now.

Incidentally at one point when I checked the gold report the AI had -144 gold. Not sure how he ever got to such a large minus number. The next turn he was back to a positive value of around 200.

Yes, the AI is usually a bit agressive! :-)
Do you rush them with the scouts?
I probably need to modify the scenario a bit then :-)

I used 1 scout to lead some AI stacks on a merry chase away from everything else. Eventually the Wolfriders caught me but it cost them a couple of turns of moving away from me. Distracting AI stacks with single units is a good way to buy yourself some time.

The one toward the middle I used with my hero to help ruin search (both ruins had 3 skellys so I need it). Afterward that scout helped get my hero to the AI cities. In reality I just brought along some Lt Calv with a hero as that provides plenty of speed to get there. Plus you provided a nice +6 defense shield on the ground that every hero needs :-)

Found a few places in the code were the AI could be cheating with the gold :-)
Lets see if it is fixed from now on.

I might rework the scenario, making it a bit harder then :-)

Game TestAI4 (Game 7436): - Victory on Turn 22!

Meet or Beat!!! We didn't realize on turn 1 we should immediately go to the Elf/Dwarf cities to acquire a free/city armies. Doing it again I'd get both on turn 1 or 2 instead of turn 5-6. I'd also make crows early to distract the AI and rush his empty cities as they could all be pillaged (unless this scenario is reworked) which should cut the time to win down to the 10-12 turn range.


Interestingly enough we didn't have to conquer the entire map. So it must just be a set number of cities/city percentage you need?

One thing I noticed about the Triggers. I acquired the Elven city on about turn 5 or 6. Later I lost it to the Horde. When I unfogged the city again the trigger was showing Active. Putting a crow on it said I get the city and all it's armies. Of course I didn't since the AI owned it. But somehow the map thought the trigger should be reset (my team not owning the city/fogged city-trigger area).

I played this game and won it easily. went with my scout and plundered 4 cities in the north. got ferw heroes, invested in expireince and quickly leveled them up to +13 and -10. right know AI are very weak. are you planing to improve them to the level of AI in W2? never played DLR - how did AI look there? and how do you create such an "engine": is it like in chess, do you give him only the rules, or do you program him to use certain strategies? (never really understood how the computer games work :D

Ok a bit harder version of the map is now created.
The AI and the triggers are a bit limited currently. Hopefully in next version I can make a more challenging map ;-)
