So it was in Warlords and it is still in all the vast expanse of games ranging from pen-and-paper RPGs to boardgames. Most good games have element of luck to spice things up a bit, where's the harm?


The reason was to point out that you can weight your stacks as much as you like but in the end you can still lose the farm to a bad roll.

KGB helped my imagination out by describing them as LoTR Giant Eagles which helps a bit. I don't know about battering rams and gryphon's but if gryphon's existed I could imagine it. Eagles exist however and my knowledge of them vs. my imaginary dragons don't give them a chance. Sorry, just won't happen. Maybe against squirrels and rabbits but not dragons.
