If the wolf now is a ship (on an anchor) and wants to go inlands to the city, you need to move it 1 square into the sea, and then go back on the anchor. It will then convert your army back from ship to a landunit.

Is there any chance to have prompt whether to change to ship unit when movement stop onto the anchor my main purpose is not to sail rather to protect next reinforcement and retain movement point to retake the city. This practically lost movement point when i move to sea and back again to the anchor

Currently there is no choice :-)

The rules for Anchors are that when you enter an anchor you convert to the other type.
I.e. if you are a landunit you convert to a ship, and if you are a ship you convert to a landunit.
(Heroes and fliers behave a bit diffrently.)
Moving to an anchor cost 2 movepoints, and the converting costs all points above 2.
