Trying to turn off e-mail notice

I'm trying to uncheck the e-mail box under my profile settings, but it wants me to also change my password, put in my birth date, etc. Any box that is empty...is there any other way to get rid of my e-mail notifications? Thanks!

I think you just need to type your current password (the top input field), you don't need to change it. There is no other way . Perhaps some options should be changable without entering the password.
