Creating a game limited map options

Postby ezras » Fri Apr 15, 2011 1:38 am

I am trying to start a new game with map 'rivalry'. But it is not listed or does not come up in the menu of map options. I am running chrome. I can't figure out why either I can't see it or it is not listed. Not sure if this is my problem or a bug or what.

The menu for maps goes out of the top of the browser, and anything at the top of the list is impossible to see or select. I already reported the same thing about the vote button for the Maps area being off the bottom of some browsers, but it didn't get any attention.

This is a pretty critical problem. I don't know much about the website setup, but there have to be better options for menus and in-browser popup display.

It's possible that the map was removed, but even if it was this problem really deserves immediate attention.

This sounds more like it has to do with your resolution. What resolution are you using?

So there are two places there this problem happens? The map list and the vote buttons. Still sounds strange to me, is it possible that you could show me a screenshot of the problems?

My memory was faulty: it's the comment button, not the vote buttons. Here's a shot from Chrome (though it happens in both for me)

As you can see, it is anchored to the view window and so scrolling up/down doesn't help. Just centering it would fix this.
I'll post a second message for the other picture.

Here's the view of the map selection menu in my resolution. This also happens in both Chrome and Firefox. Certainly it's manifesting because of resolutions, but it's not a resolution problem. It's a website design problem, easily fixed (depending on your editor).

Would you mind taking a look at the thread below this? I was able to get a specific instance and perhaps an explanation for a bug I reported after first joining. It's a bit time-sensitive, as I will have to play through the bug and submit my turn anyway soon.

I see your problem. How does the city popup in the game work for you? Does it cover the entire screen? When I was designing it I tried to calculate so it should fit with the lowest resoultions. I wasnt sure how it would work for poeple with lowres and toolsbars.

I think you will have to live with the problem in beta3. I have changed both the comment thing and the map selection in beta4 so wont be a problem there.
To get around the map problem you can go to the map page and put the map in your slot and create a game on it by selecting from your slot list instead.

It's surprising that this happens at all, since I don't really have low resolution. Actually I have a nice big screen and resolution is at the default setting, which is pretty high. In-game menus work fine for me.
