Lost Stack Groupings - BETA3

Postby KGB » Wed Jun 23, 2010 5:22 pm

If you click the group button and group units into a stack that grouping will be lost on the next turn if you don't move the newly grouped stack at least one square. If you do move the newly grouped stack then it is remembered correctly on the next turn.

I know, this is due to minimize server traffic. We only send grouping information together with movement currently. But This is something I might change for beta3. Im still thinking about it :-)

I have another bug here that is a MUCH bigger issue.

I had a nice hero stack move up to a city with 4 defenders in it. So the stack was perfectly grouped together and had moved as a stack.

I then went and changed my fight order for the battle and got the message that the fight order was changed. Then I clicked on my stack and attacked the city.

I watched in STUNNED horror as only my hero attacked the city. Of course I was killed and VERY annoyed to lose a hero (L4 so it will take a LONG time to replace him) in a battle I easily won with what was left of my stack.

Changing the fight order should NOT ungroup a stack as players are not expecting this behavior.

Right now (in beta) it would be very nice if we could get an 'oops' button on combat for those times where we accidentally attack without the full stack due to the game ungrouping when we are not expecting it. Or better yet a warning message that pops up saying you are not attacking with your full stack are you sure you want to attack.
