Boats and Bridges

Game 28881 (Darklords34)

Maybe this changed and I am not aware of it but I had 5 boats sitting on a bridge. 4 of which were Galleons and one was a Barge (or whatever the crappiest boat is).

The units were 3 Pikemen and 2 Lt Calv. Prior to the battle ALL showed getting a combat bonus for being in the open. I was attacked by my opponent and in the battle screen all fought at 15 strength and I got reamed when I should have done a LOT more damage. And no, there were no Unicorns involved.

I suspect the game saw 1 army in a Barge and put them all in a Barge for combat purposes.

I thought those units only got combat bonus in grassland. At sea only sea serpents should be getting a combat bonus.

If that's the case then the mouse over needs to stop showing the combat bonus because I would never have attempted to block the bridge if I wasn't getting the +10.

I checked again this turn and moved a Pikeman on a boat under a Bridge and he showed as +10 terrain.

I fixed that in battle you need to be in unit form to receive the bonus, but perhaps the mouseover is seeing it as open terrain. Will write that down.

You should document these kind of stealth fixes... ;) Does this only concern open terrain bonuses, not anti-air etc when unit is in ship form?

Possibly related to this fix, I noticed that bridges do not count as sea squares, at least according to tooltip (kraken only getting +2 fear etc). Was this changed also or possibly a bug related to previous fix? I thought bridges were both open and sea previously and liked it so...

What you see when you mouseover the bridge is probably wrong. I only remember updating battle. Kraken should get their bonus on bridge terrain and pikemen should get their open bonus if they are in human form but not in boat form.

Yes I only had the mouseover to check from since I did not dare to park my serpents/krakens on a bridge to get actual combat results... Good thing was that pikemen/pegasus did the job well enough and happy to hear I can still use the sea critters for blockades like that. :)

Btw, I couldn't find the info about different ships from wiki, are they somewhere there in the unit list? Could add the information that "Units in ship form do not apply their terrain bonuses (bridges do not count as open for ships)."
