step on an off a ruin

Postby zorro » Sun Apr 03, 2011 5:35 am

It happened to me several times now that I stepped off a freshly conquered ruin just to stap back on it for the reward - but no reward has been given and ruin is still unexplored. That only happens within one turn of course.

Its a "known" bug in beta3, and will be addressed in beta4 :-)

For more info please see the thread "Out of Sync Error causes misses Blessing"

Ok, its possible that the ajax message gets lost on its wayto the server which would cause this.
However if you find any logic behind when it doesnt pop up, its probably some unknown bug so please let us know in that case :)

I started walking off a ruin, then let the hero wait until later, then step on it, that works, each time it failed it was when I stepped off and right back on a ruin.

It's some kind of browser issue. Just reload the page before stepping back on; that fixes it 90% of the time for me. Another trick is to pick a path that the hero can't take, and try to force him to go there. For instance: if you're next to a mountain range, tell the hero to step onto it and he will fail, prompting another terrain check and getting your ruin reward.

This doesn't work in Firefox. I've tried it several times after you told me about it. Never had it work yet.

Hmm. I was using it in Firefox. You've probably got the gist of it, but I'll describe the process: select adjacent terrain for which your hero does not have enough movement points (or impassible terrain), then click it again, forcing the game to attempt movement there. Using the "move unit" button with the running horse does not work.

But in the end, I made the switch to Chrome for Warbarons only. It takes about 5 minutes; Google has it really streamlined. Still using Firefox for main browsing. I just got really, really sick of the crashes. Ruins all my browsing at once every time.

LPhillips,

I was definitely using a double click, not the move button (which I never use). I picked move targets of mountains, land across water which the path generator can't do and generates a crazy path etc. Anything to generate long/impossible moves. Haven't gotten it to work but these days I'm remembering to hit refresh on the browser before going back on the ruin as that seems to fix it (so far).
