Does this mean all the hero bonus's apply then since the Hero is not in boat form?

Does it also mean the hero doesn't have to pay the embark/disembark costs at the shore since he's not in boat form?

If both those statements are true, it's a great idea to drop off your flying hero with a boat stack.

I think the heroes bonuses apply even when in boat-form. Piranha will have to confirm this.

If the hero moves to an anchor in landform together with some boats (i.e. if he has been rescued in water), he will be transfered to a boat at the anchor, while all other troops gets transfered to landunits. I.e. always when you move to an anchor and are in land or sea form, you will get transfered to the other form. So if you have rescued your hero this way you probably want to sail to the shore so he can jump to a land-tile first, before converting your ships back to landunits...

So you are saying the hero can go ashore any where at all when he is 'rescued' by boat? That's powerful. It means you can fly your hero 1 square into the water, group him with boats, remove the flier and he can land anywhere he wants to. Very powerful indeed.

Yes exactly, but he will then be alone, so I would say it is a huge risk also. (and a little bit messy to get him to the boat this way). If it turns out to be a bad idea its quite easy to remove this functionallity.
