Matchmaking ignores settings

Postby Chazar » Sun Feb 03, 2013 4:51 pm

Matchmaking seems to ignore the requested turn limits:

Last Wednesday or Thursday, I requested matchmaking for a 1vs1 ladder game with a minimum 3 day turn limit and maximum 5 day turn limit.

I received an email on 02.02.2013 03:16h that I have been matched and that the game "Matched101" had started. Now see that I have already lost, since my first turn already expired. :(

How can it expire already, since less than 3 days have passed since the starting of the game by now?

If matchmaking does not respect my minimum turn limit settings hard, then it is useless to me, since every now and then I do not manage a move on the weekend.

I was wondering what happened. I had request a game with a minimum turn of one and a maximum of 3.

When the game started it was 1 day turns. So it seems to have matched us ok, but instead of setting a turn range that fit both our requests it set them based on mine only.

We will investigate and roll back the ladder result.
Sorry for the problem :-(

Thanks for investigating the issue.

Don't bother with rolling back the ladder result, since I cannot rule out for sure that I did not misclick the matchmaking request (though I believe that I did check it again in the list of open requests afterwards). I care more about my reputation as a reliable opponent, rather than the ladder score (I don't manage enough games per season to compete anyway).

Ok found a bug in the code so it was using the lowest timeframe from any of the players.
Sorry about this. It is now fixed :-)

I have added back your ladderpoints Chazar.

Thanks for reporting this bug!
