Fog of War and Ruins

Postby KGB » Wed Jan 26, 2011 4:07 pm

There is an annoying bug with fog of war and ruins.

When you unfog a ruin for the first time it shows as 'unexplored' even if it has actually been explored. You must hit refresh on the browser to get the actual state of the ruin.

This bug has caused me on more than one occasion to move my hero to a ruin only to find it has no gold which wastes a full turn of movement. :x

On your next turn it reports the correct state.

Ideally in Beta4/5 you would have another graphic image to show explored ruins in a different manner so you didn't have to click on them. DLR for example showed a tower as broken to indicate it was already searched. Caves (which you don't have) had eyes peering out of them when a monster was there and no eyes when it was explored etc.

I have not had this happen. I use Chromium. Also, you can see if it is unexplored or explored in the text at the bottom when you have the mouse pointer on the ruin.

I have to replicate and check. Its possible that the onclick info for the ruin isnt updated properly. Im pretty sure the onmouseover-info is updated though (which also tells you if it is explored or unexplored so there is no real need to click the ruin).

Anyway I will see if I can replicate the problem :)

I haven't tried the onmouseover event because I normally just click on a ruin to see it's status as soon as it unfogs.

So onclick definitely isn't updating properly for just unfogged ruins as I experienced the problem again today which prompted me to write the bug report.

Ok found the code that was missing and I have added it again.
Next time you discover a ruin in the fog, please check if you still have this issue as I havent had a game to verify it in yet :)
