No NAPs

Postby ams16 » Sun Sep 01, 2013 4:08 am

I would like the ability to start games with no enforced NAPs. I don't mind if people make treaties - I just think that enforcing them from on high seems out of place.

(My reasoning: If people in a real world had a NAP, there would be nothing preventing them from breaking it, except the fact that they would get a bad reputation. I'd love NAPs that were breakable (sneak attacks, etc.) but the fact that the player broke the NAP was announced to the world.)

i second the motion. I've even taken to posting near the beginning of the game that I won't do computer-enforced NAPs, even if it's too my advantage. That's right, I'd rather gimp myself than play with them.

Intersting idea, but I would take it one further and announce at the beginning of the game the persons NAP record. Something like Zaque has entered 104 NAP and broken 20 of them. So that newer players would have a better idea of how trustworthy the person is. You could also use number of turns instead or in addition to the number of NAPs.

100% agree, these things ruin FFA games. I'm not saying get rid of them but at least have the option to turn them off.
