random map games

I would like to be able to create a game with random map.

Game is becoming stale as more and more players limit themselves to only a few maps. Be nice to put out a challenge and neither player is on map of their choice.

Could perhaps be selection range based on k value to limit map size, but otherwise just random.

At one time we had a working match maker. But seems to not be working for some time.

What about choosing amount of hills, plain, water, forests etc. on a random map?

A random choice of an existing map or a random map created by the game-computer?
For the first occasion there could just be a choice for 'random map' when the (multiplayer) game is created by the player and all the participants should not know which map it is before the game begins.
The second occasion may be more complex in programming, there could be a choice for the number of cities, percentage of different terrain, and the game map would be created just for this match by the game-computer.
I think both are interesting.

was thinking random map from the existing maps. Simply to eliminate games where 1 player knows the map very well and the other does not.

Random maps also might be nice but probably a lot of programing to make that happen.

Sounds a great idea.
Some people are specialists in specific maps and dive in when they see it.
