Medals for units fighting with hero

I wish a unit surviving in a battle alongside with a hero could get a medal. A medal would raise strength by 5 points and maximum 4 medals for a unit. The more unlikely the unit is to survive the higher the chance of getting a medal.

Warlords2 had this and I always enjoyed having those special units with pretty medals, especially when one unit would follow the hero and survive late into the game.

I liked the warlords 3 medals better. I believe units in combat got an additional die roll for having a medal, and the lower of its two rolls was used (lower is better).

I'd like to see Medals too.

In addition to medals I'd like to see the ability to produce better units (extra strength, extra moves etc). It could be a very simple system tied to the city wall level so no new menus are needed:

Wall Level
L0: Normal unit
L1: +1 move
L2: +1 strength
L3: +5 wall bonus (as now)
L4: +1 move
L5: +1 strength
L6: +10 wall bonus (as now)
L7: +1 move
L8: +15 wall bonus (as now)
L9: -1 turns (new wall level, cost 400 gold)

Now every wall level has value so there is a reason to upgrade walls. A maxed out city would build units with +2 strength and +3 moves at a rate of 1 turn faster (2 turn units in 1 turn, 3 turn units in 2 turns etc).

With lvl9 wall you would always want to produce spiders or wizards I think. 2 turn unit in 1 turn = double output. That is too much. I would replace the -1 turn with something else, maybe plus 5 strength or something like that. I like the idea in general though.

It costs 800 gold to go from L7 (starting capitol walls) to L9. That's a lot of money. On turn 1, a hero and Spider cost 1300 gold. You'd need to reach 2100 to get 1 turn Spiders. That would require an incredibly lucky pillage/ruin search to get there. So I doubt it's going to happen on turn 1 and even if it did it would mean giving up a 2nd hero.

Also remember you could instead simply buy Spiders in another city for 800 gold and have 2 spider cities giving you the same production as 1 turn spiders in the capitol.

Most other cities start with far weaker walls than L7. I doubt more than 1 city would get upgraded to L9 besides the capitol and even then only if you were on a really rich gold map.
