ELEMENTALS!

Postby tyrannicide » Sat Apr 21, 2012 8:22 pm

Greetings Warlords.

I've been thinking about this for a while and thought that I might throw it out there, just for fun. :)

We have fire elementals already.

What about the elementals of water, air, and earth?

All would be specialized units. I don't want to offer potential movements, upkeeps, or strengths, since that's not the point of this little idea.

Water Elemental: Killer in the seas, obviously. Very, very fast in the water. Swarms. (I would see this as a mid-level sea unit, with kraken going back to being more powerful.)

Air Elemental: Good in the air. Very, very fast. Invisible if not within 3/4 squares of a unit. Swarms. (I would see this as a mid-level air unit, between eagles and griffons/demons.)

Earth Elemental: Moves through hills at 1; moves through mountains at 2. Ignores city walls. Swarms. (I would see this as the top tier "hill unit", above dwarves and giants.)

Fire Elemental: As is. But should move through volcanic at 2 and also swarm. Swarming was *made* for fire elementals. (Even more so that scorpions, I think.)

** Here is the kicker: If the elemental stack has a wizard with them (a "summoner") then they get a bonus of some sort.

:)

Entertaining, at the least. Without more specifics it's hard to see what impact they'd have.

Units should never have any sort of invisibility ability. That's a game breaker.

It sounds reasonable at first that Fire Elementals should not be slow in lava. The problem with that is that they already control all engagements around lava unless the enemy has their own elementals. Until that isn't the case, they have to be slow.
