Regretting moves + borrowing money

Postby Negern » Sun May 12, 2013 10:40 pm

1. Maybe it should be possible to regret a move, if the move doesn't scout any tiles that was hidden under fow? Was possible in DLR and it was always nice, so that if a misclick sends a unit out into the sea, it's easy to get back, not having to waste two turns on embark/disembark.

2. Would be nice if it was possible to lend money from other players.
It could look like this:
1. player 1 sends a proposal to player 2 where he states 1. how much gold he wants to borrow, 2. how many turns it will take to pay everything back and 3. how high the rent will be.
2. player 2 has the choice either to accept or change the demands, e.g. how by reducing pay back turns from 6 to 5. When player two is satisfied with the terms, he can click send, to resend the terms for player one.
3. same as above - can either click ok or change terms
etc etc

Of course, if player two clicks OK on step 2, there is no step three. Then money is transfered directly to player one. And every turn, money is sent automatically to player 2 from player 1s income, without transfer cost. If there isn't enough money in the treasury, it's still drawn so player 1 gets -gold and freezed production.

Any thoughts about this? Would anyone use 2? And 1, surely there are others that would use it from time to time?

I am sure this would be a useful feature. It's been asked for before by players. I wonder how hard it would be to implement. It's more than just uncovering tiles in FoW or combat/ruin searching etc. For example you have to handle stuff like:

1) The undo has to happen immediately (before anything other unit moves)
2) The undo has to undo moves for all units in the stack that just moved or else it might not be possible to undo (think of Dwarves moving someone along hills and then not wanting to undo the Dwarf unit but undoing the other units).
3) Have to prevent things like moving a unit out and building a tower/city or razing a tower/city then undoing the move.
4) Have to prevent heroes from moving, dropping/grabbing an item and undoing the move.
5) Giving back gold spent on boats upgrades.

There are probably other things like that or more things will come into play in the future that would have to be accounted for. Then there is the fact your units might not uncover any FoW but what about a team mate moving at the same time...

The habit you should learn is clicking once to set the path and then using the 'm' key to move. That prevents the accidental double click move.

Good points. So after attacking (neutrals, enemy players, towers of all kinds, players in a nap), razing (towers, cities), rebuilding (towers, cities), searching ruins, entering temples, picking up and dropping items, scouting, moving another unit afterwards = no turning back, while anything else = possible to turn back. Or should something more be added?
Doesn't happen to me often, but sometimes. And a misclick can do much harm. Not least to the mood!

Perhaps a "stop"-function could be added, making it possible to stop a unit that's moving, perhaps just by clicking on the screen. Would a "click on the screen to stop units movement (check this box if you don't want to see this message again)"-box work?
Would work in fow too. No rewinding, but stopping the unit before steps deplete.

One last wish: when entering ruins or clicking on, perhaps some additional info could be given. Like "12 UL is needed for a 100% win cause the dice only has 12 sides". Seems like many new players have a little trouble figuring out how it works. A few extra sentences of info would hopefully fix that.
When entering, maybe it should show which hero will enter and how high his/hers UL is and how high is needed, like when plundering cities and it's shown that 40% of production value is plundered and by which unit.

+ ruin info is incorrect. Level 1 ruins can have up to 4 skeletons but only show that up to three is possible. And level 2 ruins can't have 3 vampires (can they even have two?).

Quickly close the Browser. I've done then after hitting 'Move All' by accident. When I came back into the game I expected to see all the units moved but I was delighted to see it stopped everything where it was. Not sure if that will work for single stack move but it works for Move All.

I am updating the Wiki now. The first section I am doing in the ruins based including all the new changes SnotlinG is making. So shortly I hope to have it all up to date. Then ideally the in game click on a ruin will be updated (right now a L2 and L3 ruin show the same guardians which we know isn't right).

For new players, it would be nice if there was some additional information about the various aspects of the game given during gameplay. Maybe little information bubble windows could pop up the first time a player interacts with the game in a new way. So, the first time a player moves to or clicks on a level 1 ruin, a bubble pops up telling that player that a lvl 1 hero is needed to search it, how the ruin dice work, and all that good stuff. The first time a player conquers a city, a bubble could pop up explaining the pros and cons of razing, plundering, and conquering.

Information could also be given in a tutorial, but this way there is no thought required. New players won't have to make the decision to play a tutorial game first, they can play any game and learn the basics.

I saw that yesterday. It's a really nice addition and one I'm now going to specifically mention in the ruin wiki I am working on.

Good idea! They could be like those "click in this box if you don't want this message again"-pop ups, so that they pop up until the player no longer needs it.
I believe that it's important to make the game more available to new players. This would be a very good thing to add. Not only for those that doesn't play the tutorials, but also as reminders for those that did. If it's needed, I could try to think of situations where pop up information could be needed for new players and write short texts that should help them out.

If I step onto the ruin with a pala when it is already +UL units there, the extra ul doesn't display even though it's added. + (not sure) if i cancel the screen and stack with them, after searching the ruin, they are unstacked again.
