Random Map?

Does anyone think it might be fun to play a game in which you don't know which (approved) map you might be playing?

Obviously, each map should be tied to how many players allowed for random map assignments.

That's a good idea. It could make joining games more easy. Especially for those that are new. Option: "Join random game" and then you are placed in a random map and game.

Some of the 'official' maps are too wack for my taste...so I doubt I'd ever use this.

Yeah, a lot of ppl might just resign after finding out what map it was.

I think the official pool will change by beta4. all maps need to be converted (not redone) for beta4 so we can make sure that the weirder maps can be placed in another map pool.

I have a couple maps i have been slowly working on and was delaying working any further on them anticipating Beta4. Is this a good idea? How far away is beta4?

The original plan after beta3 was completed was to have beta4 be a pretty fast update to get a few but really fun features out as fast as possible. But we are making more changes so it will take longer. I think Beta4 can be done in late June / July.

You can complete your maps and play them in beta3.
As soon as all changes to the map editor are completed for beta4 we will ask map makers to open their maps there and see if they want to make any updates with new beta4 features, or just save the map again.
You will not need to remake the map, just have the possibility to add new stuff.

I would be very pleased if that included 2 options:

1) open map at old size and/or open map at new map window size [insert new map window size]
2) center, (left, top, right, bottom) align old map in newly sized map window

Makes it easier for translating maps to the new sizes.
