Playing Multiples Sides

Sometimes it's really hard to test maps when there are so many drop outs. I've played the Lords of Light map about 5 times now and in every game there has been a drop out before turn 4. Not only that but it lessens the enjoyment of the map due to the drop out causing loss of all 2+ turn armies, heroes, items etc.

Could a new option for scenario maps be added so that 1 player can play multiple sides. For example Lords of Light has 8 sides set up as 3 teams (3v3v2). It would probably be really fun to be able to play this as a 3 player game with each player taking control of all the sides of 1 team. Note that when playing multiple sides I want the armies/heroes/gold to remain separated into 3 sides as if 3 player were playing, not combined into 1 big side.

I was wishing for an option to play multiple sides for more of a non-ladder hot seat play. It would be fun to play competitively in my own home without having to set up alternate accounts and log in back and forth trying to recruit friends into Warbarons. Currently for hot seat my family fires up DLR, my wife and three of my sons really would like to play Warbarons with each other but I'm not about to set them each up with an account to log into everyday.

Wow, Hotseat DLR. I didn't know anyone ever played it that way.

If you have a 2nd (or 3rd or more) PC it's much more fun to play DLR in simultaneous mode on a LAN. No waiting between turns and lots of opportunity to trash talk during turns :)

Hot seat is how I grew up with the Warlords series :D. Years ago, in college, we even played quite a bit of Warlords 4 hot seat. (thanks for those much needed patches BTW)

Never played simultaneous mode, so I'm quite of curious how 0.9 will play.

My guess is you'll need a *really* fast PC to play competitively. The biggest issue by far is how slow javascript runs in the browser. My home machine is an old one now (5 years) in terms of CPU power and even though I have regularly updated ram (4 gigs) and graphics cards Warbarons is entirely CPU bound. So you'll need a very fast CPU and the best browser (Chrome) to be able to move enough armies/units per turn once you get past about turn 10 or so.

The other thing that I hope has been added is a 'move all' button that moves all units / stacks with movement paths and the hot key feature to immediately select stacks. The combat screen will need to have an auto feature which just shows the units / bonus's and the final result with no animation. The A-star movement path needs to auto avoid neutral units outside of cities when building a path. All of which I asked for and are 'must haves' in time based turns. Then the game will need to stop with all the pop-up messages when armies end on bless sites, look out towers, ports etc. Or at the very least be able to close them with the Enter/Escape key instead of a mouse click (keyboard is about 10x as efficient as a mouse for rapidly closing unwanted menu's). It would also be ideal if you could stop the move animation of units and just instantly have them arrive at their destination follow by the unfogging of the map rather than animate each square of movement.

I thought this would have been good in normal play as well, I remember playing big games with lots of units in beta 4, moving individual sea serpents took forever (might have had something to do with the pathfinding algorithm). It would probably be a good wishlist item in itself.
