Button to cancel all vectoring

Postby TheVic » Sun Mar 03, 2013 7:09 pm

Hello
In "city overwiew":
Would really like a button to cancel all vectors.
Also the fact that one always are returned to start of city list whenever changing vector is really anoying.
As is the fact that vectors sometimes are made incorrectly in this view when changing between cities.

Yeah, returning to the beginning of the list is really irritating.
Also the fact that any changes in productions aren't saved before you click OK (which closes the window), ie. when I click on one city to buy production/set vector, previous changes are lost.
I can't see better way to manage a lot of cities than going through this list from beginning to end and check that cities' setting are OK and change what isn't OK, and both these facts make this procedure long and annoying.

Ah I hadnt thought about that thing with the list returning to the top, will see if we can solve it somehow.
Sometimes html is a bit tricky to do what you want. In this case I think we redraw that entire window, which will default scrollbars to the top. But I will have a look.

I am not sure I follow here, could you explain a little bit more in detail the problem, and maybe some good idea to solve it? As I understand it is 2 separate problems?
1. If you click the small arrow to the right (i.e. go into detailed view of a city) previous changes done in cityoverview window is lost? Maybe we should autosave them as we do when you change vectoring and switch cities in the detailed view...
2. You would like changes done in cityoverview window to be saved automatically? But that could be dangerous if you happen to missclick etc?

Yes, the changes are lost. I think saving when clicking on arrow would be a lot of help. I don't usually remember after scrolling several screens of cities whether I changed anything or not, and in any case, pressing OK and then opening the window again and trying to find there I stoped is annoying.

I think that wouldn't be neeeded if it was done as in point one. But asking for confirmation if trying to change production which is partly built (I think that's the only misclick in city screen which could do some harm and can't be corrected easily) and then saving any change seems like another solution for me.

Misclicks... Would be a problem to have an undo button to take back actions that didn't result in combat/scouting through FOW?
It happens quite often to me, and recently even a critical one. I just thought that all my groups of unit s are finished, but somehow group of defenders in my key city (most of my strong units in vectors there and after conquering, free way for enemy to my undefended cities behind) was selected and after a while started to move to the opposite side of map. It's allways irritating when some not intended action happens, but destroying the game which is played for one month or longer and is pretty equal by one click is frustrating as hell.

You can set an option in settings that will prevent that from happening because you must click M on the keyboard or the move button. 2 clicks on the same place on the map wont work.

I don't see any such options in my settings.
And I don't think it could help, it is even easier for me to do something I don't want, since M is next to N.

For next version 0.91 I will definitely fix point 1 above.
The scrollbar issue is trickier, but will investigate and see what I can come up with.
As for undo it is a bit hard as everything is saved on the server, and we would then have to save complete data of each move. Might be something to investigate in the future though since I understand the frustration. I have also missclicked sending my waterwalking hero out alone on the ocean etc :-)

#1 is now included in version 0.91

Also managed to fix the scrollbar so it wont return to the top after each vector-click.

Also did sort the cities in alpabetical order, something that has irritated me previous :-)
