Not that this game wasn't long lost, but how did white manage to win by fulfilling the winning criteria?

If I am not mistaken, it is still my turn, and so far I've only fought a couple battles on open terrain this turn. The game was then lost when I was logged off? But my time should not have expired, nor have I received an email warning?

Only clear-cut games are ended at the end of the ladder season. The details were once described in a news post.

However, the game really ought to generate a message explaining in what happened and why. Maybe an auto-generated ingame-message or a comment in the corresponding entry in a player's wall would be really nice to have. Otherwise it could be frustrating and confusing, especially for players who have net yet played through the end of ladder season before.
