Time for some new tournaments!

Postby mowhar » Thu Dec 24, 2015 12:52 pm

It has been quite a while since a new tournament started!
So let us start talking about the upcoming tournaments.

"The isles of constant sorrows"
Who is the ruler of the seas? The master of these often frustrating island maps?
Only maps with plenty of water and islands.

"You do not need a big duck"
The smallest, most confrontational maps. Games will often be decided in 10-12 turns.
Is it just luck when you win on these maps, or are there people that are just the masters of early confrontation? 24-36 hours turntime. Action, action, action!

"You are always so diplomatic..."
Smallish/Medium sized maps. 4 player FFA:s, with the top 2 advancing to next round. Probably should have some kind of second chance system, so that you need to fail top two twice, before being eliminated from the tournament.

"The great expander"
Huge maps, plenty of space, and long turntime. Who is the best at quickly building a base, and then delivering that crucial surprise attack, or just steamrolling over their opponents with massive forces after a while?
The tournament that just goes on and on and on and on and on....

"My favorite map!"
Best of 3. Both players selecting their favorite map, random map as tiebreaker. Would your awesome skill on a certain map carry you all the way?

Well, this is the best suggestions I could come up with while writing this.
What would YOUR dream tournament look like?

Now that the 2v2 Tournament is into the final matchup, it would be a good time to start setting up a new one for the new year!

I liked the setup of the first one, just update the maps for each round.

Piranha,

Map 3, Discworld has random 2v2 start spots. There is an excellent chance that it will be a total walkover for one team simply because they got a better start spot. You might want to switch this to the DiscWorld Colonization map that has only 4 start spots all on remote islands if you are going to include this map.

Map 5, Westeros Unlimited only has FFA mode enabled. Not sure how you can do a 2v2 unless you clone this map in some manner.

The tournament system wont be able to pick a setup as far as I know so it will be random startpositions on all maps.
I'll change to the colonization map.

Hello!
Interested in a new tournament:
one map Central Sahara,
single elimination,
16 participants,
shortest time delay,
name is Sahara 16 or something on your sight
Would be nice to play such one.

Didn't we already do a central sahara tourney a while back? Why not a different map for a single map tourney?

Squares might be a good choice. Moderate size but even set-up, and with new heroes will provide a challenge to find best strategy to win.

Funny one, reminds Stratego in oldest version with blessing temple in the center, where who controls the center he controls the game.
