I think the last used scheme (group stage) was successful

I suggest:

16 players ( 8 couples) group stage, semifinal, final
Start aways 8
If you think we could have more aka 24 we could add an additional round

Preferred maps:
Michuaquan
Daradorn Valley
Four Lords original
Hexagon
Play off map: Sahara

I know some people have expressed themselves in previous thread please make an effort to wrap up here

Counting last tournament where 32 players joined fastly, may be sence to try 16 pairs, 2 group rounds, semifina and the final.
What about to chose other maps than was used in 1v1 tour.?

I agree with Igor that different maps than the 1v1 tourney should be used. There are lots of good maps to pick from.

Ok, you are more experienced than me
So let's agree on 16 couples
Group phase 1
Group phase 2
Semifinal
Final

We need 4 maps + 1 playoff map

There are a lot of interesting maps. As for me, I like
Battle Field
Rivalry also looks good
Colourful Snowflake is a map for 6 thus could be interesting to play it 2v2 because of looking for where the opponents are
Stratego as the map for tie-break
other maps.

I like Battlefield too but if you use it as a map it should be for the final because at 150x150 games are going to take a long time (can easily be 40+ turn games there)
Rivalry is fun.
Stratego (the big one) is a good one for regular games (small one can be used as tie breaker if don't use big one).
Colorful Snowflake can suffer from the sorceress rush to the middle L1 ruins. High Sea's Combat might be a better alternate water map (though it too can suffer sorceress rush).
8 Kingdoms (means no sorceress domination)
Digital Clover would make a nice tie breaking map too (small and intense)

I like 8 Kingdoms.
Digital Clover is fun.
May be Volcanoes ffa4 or Pitfall, or one of four Europe maps.
I think need a map with water for one of rounds, may be yes High Seas Combat, or World of Midgard.

yes, 16 pairs sounds good, should be no problem getting 32 players to join. I am no great fan of 2vs2, but if there is a tournament, I want in!

When do you want to start it?
With next season? 2018-09-01

Also I think with 2 vs 2 it can be 1 day -
there is always some saved time, there are aways, and we can use our partner time, if he is still alive
