Large "Speed" game ( U.S. EST )

Postby SCIkick » Tue Mar 29, 2011 12:30 am

Anyone interested in playing a larger game with 6-8 players? I'd like to have a game that on a good night we could complete 3-5 turns. Usually during weeknights I could do this so I thought others might be interested. The turn duration will be like 24 hours, but hopefully some nights we can all be close to a computer and have more than one turn.

I'm in the EST U.s. timezone, I think it will work best with folks close by. Anyone interested post here, if we get a good group we'll pick a good map for the number we have and try it out.

Sounds very good. US Central, just an hour off.

Okay 48 hours sounds fine to me. I'm not saying we have to get 3 turns in every night on weekdays, it would just be nice if it happened once in a while...So no pressure on anyone to complete a turn if they are busy or what not.

So we have 4 players now, we'll wait a few more days to see if others post then decide on a map....

Well looks like only 4 of us. Any suggestions for a good 4 player map?

Well we can try one of the 4 person specific maps for a quick game and see how that goes. And if it works out well we could play a large eight player game with 4ppl.

I think maybe that new map unclaimed lands could be fun....

Looks like I missed all your updates here. Now I know why "usfour" sat incomplete for 3+days. I'm sorry about that!

Even if I had seen it, I wouldn't have wanted to play Unclaimed Lands. I was one of the first testers, and took an immediate dislike to it. The idea is great but the implementation is not. It's incredibly unbalanced unless it has been altered recently. For example: one player gets mostly orcs, one gets mostly light cavalry, one gets mostly elves, and one gets mostly dwarfs. The inherent imbalance with such themed units is obvious. Try taking someone's cities with orcs or elves when they have equal production of dwarfs and their land is all hills with no roads! Turn the tables in the swamp... orcs don't get 1 movement cost, and strength is still only 4 (equal to the dwarfs' natural strength).

Other balance issues are the areas' layouts, incomes, and the themed ally production each player is given in one home city.
