Vectored Units to Teammates

Postby Moonknight » Wed Oct 26, 2011 12:44 pm

Currently, if you vector a unit to a teammate, you still control that unit. Could we add an option to allow your teammate to control the unit?

Or would this be too detrimental as you could have one team producing Dragons, one Archons and another Demons, then take turns sending it to each other...of course, all teams would have the capabilities of doing so...

an option to give whatever unit to a teammate (like in the menu where you can disband units) would be maybe more simple and surely more useful

Good idea, that would be much simpler and very useful...

You'd have to have a 1 turn waiting period on this so that the unit wasn't transferred until the next team turn (ie transfer doesn't occur on the same turn you initiate it). Otherwise it would be abused by players 'loaning' dragons and heroes for part of a turn (less than their full move) so they could be used in some attacks and then given back to the original player to potentially be used in more attacks.

Otherwise I agree, it would make far more sense to transfer ownership of units (but never heroes). The current vectoring to team mates cities is flawed in that you can only vector from 4 cities yourself but with team mates you can get 8, 12 or 16 units vectored to your city. It's slightly overpowering to allow that many units to be sent to a city.

I also think transfers of gold among team mates should not be taxed at all.

What is the current tax in place?

I'd limit the transfer ability to weak units actually (1/2-turns units excluded wizards) or it would be really too powerful.

I think tax even among teammates is good, otherwise if you have just a few cities and you know you'll lose one or more cities next turn, you can send all your money to somebody and have it back the next turn without losses. You'd never pillage anything from the enemy.

Money doesn't transfer immediately (at least I don't think it does and it definitely shouldn't). So you can't avoid the pillage loss by transferring to your team mate because the gold won't be removed until their next turn. Besides, if you have 2000 gold and only 4 cities you know you are going to lose 500+ anyway so the 10% tax doesn't stop you from sending all your gold because it's a better thing to do regardless.

The tax is silly among team mates. It makes sense to have a tax between players just forming a non-aggression pact because they aren't truly allied for the game. Most things (rebuild, self raze, many units) already are way over priced enough that taxing gold transfers isn't needed.

I think it does transfer immediately. In a game I transferred 1800+ gold, read statistics soon after and my teammate received it. I agree it shouldn't, it should transfer at the beginning of your next turn, when pillaging would have already taken place. This delay would be a tax in itself strong enough, compared to now.

As far as troops are concerned I think it is best that if you vector to another ally they become property of that ally. otherwise it is kind of a burden to send one troop across the map. as far as transferring troops back and forth that seems silly. an army is transferred to your ally and it is there's none of this back and forth nonsense.
