Temple Concept

I find the current temple system a bit annoying. It just seems unnecessarily fiddly to have to march your units down to the temple to get blessed.

I would prefer temple to be captured (like a village). Once owned the temple could give a +1 bonus to all of your units, everywhere. Temples could also then be cumulative in effect (if you own 2 temples all of your units gain +2 strength). +1 movement temples could also exist and be very worthwhile places to control.

That sounds like a horrible idea to me... :)

I would prefer that gold mines and additional +1 STR buildings attached to a specific castle...

It is fine that you don't like the idea, but it would be more constructive if you gave a reason for your dislike.

I think one reason why it is not a great idea is because it takes away the strategic value of the ruin itself and it goes against the concept of a concept. 1) The temple creates a strategic advantage on the map. those who control the cities located near the ruins have an advantage and create more value for those places. 2) the pilgrimage to the temple by the arm is part of the process. you travel to the temple pray to aphrodite and are blessed to succeed.

You could build a map and put temples next to each city and have a similar affect if you want to try it out.

Ezras,

1)The temple would still have strategic value (whoever controlled it would get the bonus).

2)The pilgrimage is what I find annoying, thematic or not. I would rather focus on world conquest and not dawdling around the map picking up bonuses for each individual unit.

Pray to Aphrodite? The goddess of love? I think Ares is the god you are looking for here. ;)
