Additional turn time for Holidays

Postby KGB » Wed Dec 21, 2011 4:55 pm

Last year I recall Snotling added an extra day or two to all game times for the Christmas-New Years time frame for those of us who are traveling and have infrequent access to do our turns.

Are you guys going to do that again this year?

If you guys just played 5 day turns you wouldnt have to worry about this...which brings me to my frequent request that I wish ladder games could be a full 3 days turn time to eliminate weekend travel concerns.

Nice in theory.

However I don't set up all the games I join and if I waited for 5 day turn games I might be lucky to play one new game a month.

Most players are setting up games with 1-2 days max. My guess is this is to eliminate those players who are new to the site, sign up for a game and never play and it takes 15 days to get them kicked out. In larger 6-8 player games if you get a couple such players it takes 30+ days to get to turn 4 by which time most other players have lost interest in that game.

Thanks for the extra time.

KGB is spot on with the turn time. Our ability to set the limits when setting up games is what makes this work.

Additional holiday-time is now active.
I have increased with 4 days (I noticed in the beta3(!) code that that was the change we did last year :-) )

Additional holiday-time has now been disabled again.
All new turns will use the normal standard turn-time...

But you KGB like me, do prefer the 5 day turns right? They are nice in case travel or something comes up in rl. They are definitely slower though. I don't mind the pace. Except for our game at Middle-East from 2010 we are still playing, most games are pretty quick, even at the 5-day turn pace

Absolutely I prefer 5 day turns for the real life reasons you suggest.

When I play 1-1 games against players I know, who play regular turns, and aren't dropping out/off the site I always play the longer turn times. But in MP games unless you have control over who is playing (password game) it gets a bit tougher to pull off the 5 day turn times.
