hunting the grouping bug

Postby SnotlinG » Mon Mar 19, 2012 9:55 pm

Hello,
Im having trouble pinpointing a bug with regards to unit grouping.
Sometimes when you do your turn, you will notice it is not possible to unmark a (follower) unit from a group by clicking on this unit - unless you use the button "select/unselect all units" etc.

If this happens in a game, please do not move or ungroup this stack with the button - but rather report it to me in the bugforum (gamename/gameid an which stack this is), and I can investigate this and hopefully find the source of this annoying bug :-)

Thanks!

I've noticed this too, I thought it was a browser glitch

SnotlinG,

I get this bug following a battle. My surviving unit stack can't be separated unless I click the group/ungroup buttons. It seems to survive until future turns so it must have something to do with returning the stack to the board after a battle when there are fewer survivors.

Just confirmed it again in a game I played a turn in. When I captured 2 cities I got the bug. Once I lost men the other time I didn't. So it doesn't require losing any men, just being in combat. Incidentally you can fix the problem by deselecting your top unit. That seems to fix the deselect problem for all the other units.

KGB, I have been unable to replicate it on demand, trying battles vs cities etc. :-(
Could you pause your turn next time it happens and I can then check the units values in the database and might get something to track down where it comes from... 8-)

SnotlinG, I have encountered this issue and exited the game:
gameid: 13564 (Gamename: Sahara Today, Map: Sahara)
player: Maze, turn: 11, stack of 5, east on the Island, east of Synresludge, Paladin+demon+3scorpions
situation: original stack of 8 attacked bigmacca's stack of 8

Can you please let me know (post here=ok) when you have investigated and I can continue my turn?

The problem was the size of INT column in the DB.
Its updated now, but there are many units that already has incorrect data, so we will expect this bug to show up for a while longer until all the incorrect groups have been selected and moved with :-)

Thanks for the help!
