Thank you for undertaking this awesome project. The screen shots look wonderful.
I am a huge fan of W2D (still play by email with friends) and have three requests that I've not been able to find through forum search so far:
1. downloaded game front (for offline manips and hotseat)
2. some save game feature for pbem
3. unit editing (although this might be accomplisheable through a game front hack)
Bear in mind that I realize all or some of this may be counter to your baseline objectives... Your teamplay concepts, for example, seem amazingly wonderful... but the persistent life of W2D for us has been moddability (thanks for the wonderful terrain editor!).
All I would be able to offer in return would be radically alternate scenario sets (been modding graphics and sprites since before DOOM), and I would certainly be willing to develop a set (with your specifications) in advance.
