Ladder and new release soon

Postby piranha » Fri Apr 06, 2012 4:12 pm

I updated the ladder calculations according to this formula.

2500 tiles, K = 20 (50x50)
5000 tiles, K = 24 (100x50)
7500 tiles, K = 28 (150x50)
10000 tiles, K = 32 (100x100)
15000 tiles, K = 36 (150x100)
22500 tiles, K = 40 (150x150)

Until now the K value was always 32. This mean that you will get more points when you win on a big map compared to a small map.
Keep you eyes open for any errors when you lose or win a ladder game. It's hard to test the lose / surrender functions so there could be errors.

Also we are nearly done with the next version. I'm going to work on it through the easter and when SnotlinG gets back after we should be more or less ready for release.

Piranha,

I think this still won't be enough to matter. Small maps are technically 1/10 the size of large maps and hence should offer 1/10 the amount of points, not 1/2.

Although that's probably not feasible to do a 10-1 ratio, a 5-1 ratio would be more realistic. Or maybe reduce the amount of points for short games (<20 turns). So halve the number of points for any game that takes <20 turns and use a 5-1 ration between 50x and 150x maps with 100x being 2.5-1 type thing.
