Post office for items

I'd prefer a magical ability or service anyway to some intercity post office. Something like a hero-based teleportation ability. This would make the magician hero more viable and popular (if he ever makes an appearance). "Hand Ragnarok to that magician, so he can send it to the barbarian."

That sounds actually pretty cool to me.

Since a powerful artifact can make a new hero powerful he should have to travel to the older hero with the extra artifact and beg for it. If you want your hero to get the artifact badly enough you will do this.

Sure, but in some situation this is just tedious. On the other hand, sending an item also requires some planning, due to the time required for vectoring the item. This might put more loot bags in cities for the enemy to grab due to poor planning.
