Ruins and temples

Hello,
I am very impressed by the work already done. Since I began to play I didn't noticed bugs, except some firefox freezes.
Now I wonder, do you plan to add temples, ruins, quests and objects soon ?
Indeed it is an important aspect of warlords2, which make heroes more important and outcome less predictable.

Ruins with items or special troops. But, the ruins have to be out of the way so as player has to make a hero spend a few turns getting there. Up in hills or in middle of forests, etc.

Is there a particular reason they are not going to be in Beta3?

I wasn't expecting full functionality (quests at temples, sages that reveal hidden maps/ruins) but having temples at least bless units and ruins at least give either gold/allies (items can wait for beta 4) adds a nice new dimension for Beta 3 in terms of strategies. Plus it gives a chance to evaluate how much balance temples/ruins make on the costs/strengths of units.

I know I'd be more than happy to wait another couple weeks to get basic temple/ruins into beta3 and I'm sure just about everyone else would too.

I do have one question on this. If temples/ruins aren't in beta3 and maps are created with the new editor when ruins/temples finally are added in will it require maps get re-done once again or will the new editor be good enough to simply edit maps in beta3 and add temples/ruins.

Hello,
Just had a short discussion with piranha.
We will add a basic version of ruins and temples to be included in beta3. Not sure about how much functionality they will have, but most likely just a very basic one.
This might delay the beta3 launch slightly though :-(

The idea definitely is that future updates to terrain etc should be compatible with the beta3-mapeditor.

Great :)

When I played warlords2 for me the most fun feature was the quest because it adds a lot of random in the game (I remember when one was rewarded with objects like double move, fly, earn more money or allies like 4 dragons, archons).
The ruins are nice too.
Except to ask a quest, I think blessing armies in temples wast time in the game-play, players spend a lot of time in blessing instead of fighting.
