Trigger Items duplicated in ruins?

Postby KGB » Fri Sep 28, 2012 5:09 pm

Game 24666 (Midguard Controlling).

In the upper right area there is a river that splits the continent. At the head of the river is a razed city guarded by Archons. The city has a trigger than says if you rebuild it, you will be rewarded with the item War Traveller.

However if you look at my 6 heroes, one of them is a DK who already has War Traveller.

So what happens if I rebuild the city? Will I get a duplicated item or will I just not get the reward?

I won't end my turn in case you want to take a look.

You should get the item.
However you should never have got the first "War Traveller".
Do you remember where/how you got the first item?
Would be interesting to know if it comes from a respawned ruin or a start-ruin?

SnotlinG,

I remember exactly where I got it. Off the dead body of another hero that I just killed

I do not know where that player got the item and they likely don't remember since it's turn 50. But perhaps Tim, the other player might remember.

I take it I can end my turn now in that game since you've finished looking at it?

Hmm, I have checked my code, and as usual it looks perfect :ugeek:
But I guess there is a bug there somewhere anyway :( Tried to find your game to investigate a bit more, but looks like it is already finished?
Let me know if you see this again, as I can atleast get some clues by studying the data in the database :-)

I may be able to shed some light on the situation.

It is possible to circumvent the restrictions that keep the number down to 1 of each artifact during map creation. For example: you can select the ability to manually place artifacts, then set the same one down several times so long as you don't leave that menu or select another artifact. I am sure it is something along that line, such as setting it for a trigger reward and manually setting it as a reward in a ruin.

LPhillips,

I thought of that as well. But when I look at the map in the map editor I see only 1 trigger provides War Traveller, all ruins are marked as Random and there are no items placed on the ground.

So that leaves the conclusion that items set for trigger rewards are obtainable by normal gameplay in some way. No experience with that one.

Yes. Although the game in question was 50 turns old in an 8 player, 4 team game. So suffice to say it's been running for a couple of months now.

So depending on exactly when the bug got fixed and when the other player found War Traveller it may have been a left over bug from before the fix.
