Barbarians need improvement

I'm going to let my hair down with this one.

Barbarian; Bezerker skill. An individual skill that gives the barbarian a percentage to randomly take hit points from random units in a stack before battle starts.

Valkyrie; Warhorn skill. When its her turn to fight in a stack she gets a percentage to call one or two random units to fight in front of her. Higher percentage would call stronger units.

One change that has been discussed is to change ambush to take a maximum of 3 hp. I like the idea. A unit with 70 str and 5 hp, or perhaps 7 hp with that 2+ armor, shouldn't have only 32% vs a lvl 2 assa with personal ambush or only 67% to win vs a single ghost. It's insane.

As for the flying valk, I like the idea.

Other things that could be added is a expensive skill that makes a set number of non fliers fliers. Maximum of one or two, 20 pts each, roof at 3 turn units - no devils or mammoths allowed. Maybe first level could be 10 pts for one 2 turner and second level would be another 15 pts for one unit, but that it could be a 3 turner (still only one unit, only that it allows to bring a stronger one).

Or perhaps something that gives a certain change to revive units after battles? First stat is 10 pts and 10% chance to revive one unit, second is 20 pts with 20% to revive two units, third is 30 pts for 30% to revive 3 units. That's 60 pts to get a 30% chance to revive 3 random units from the stack. And only units that died in that specific battle. Shouldn't be active if valk dies and the pala on top survives.

It wouldn't be the things to go for first hand, but better than + personal str after the +stack attack is full. It always feels odd not to have anything to put points in. One of the reasons I don't use the valk so often. Anything would be a nice addition.

With regards to the seldom used Valkyrie, why not give her something like dread skill for attack only. Cost could be more expensive than moral, say 10 pnts per pnt, to a max of 9. At least then you still have something of value to buy for your high level valkyrie, and it might revive this forgotten hero.

That's interesting. How would it differ in function from +chaos attack?

I believe it was +chaos attack he meant. But I might have missed something.

Yes, I meant +chaos, only for attack, not defense. I know this gives both sides of the power bonus to one hero, but remember the chaos should be extra expensive, and the hero still gets no quality defense bonus. A good trade.

maybe a "first strike" (or "charge", or "swoop" - how to name it?) ability would fit
+X combat for the first unit in the stack

Adding any manuver skill such as flying or extra group move is a good idea for the Valk. Since she has strong attack, but weak defense being able to attack and retreat would be of great value. I like the idea of higher group move, even if she needs to spend 15 points/1 group move for the last two points. It gives something of value and keeps her useful at higher levels.

Of course, with the Pali being nerfed that +18 attack is looking better and better.
